Ion Blaster is the oldest Weapon in the Chicken Invaders series, appearing in every game.
It functions as a basic spread shot weapon, firing multiple bullets spread out evenly.
History[]
Ion Blaster is the only weapon in Chicken Invaders 1 and the starting weapon in The Next Wave and Revenge of the Yolk. It went through the most revisions out of all weapons:
- The first version in Chicken Invaders 1.
- The redesigned version in The Next Wave, with double bullets and decreased bullet count.
- The version seen in the flash version of The Next Wave, introducing triple bullets and decreasing the bullet count even more.
- The version seen in the episodes following The Next Wave, which is similar to that game's but weaker.
- The current version seen in Universe, that returns to Chicken Invaders 1's bullet barrage roots.
This page describes the latest version of this weapon.
Strategy[]
Ion Blaster fires multiple red ions that are spread out evenly and accelerate as they go. Each Power Level upgrade adds more bullets, with the final one having 13. Its firerate is decent, and can be increased through Boosters. The default overheat time on the starter Heat Sink is 8 seconds, better than most weapons. However, it's hard to deal concentrated fire with this weapon, as you have to get very close to the enemies. ⚡10 and above add big ions that help out with it.
Its Gift is always unlocked.
Pros
- High overall damage on all power levels, beating most weapons.
- Dozens of bullets and the spread help clear out enemies quickly.
- Decent firerate and overheat time.
- Lightweight weapon, doesn't use up much reactor power.
Cons
- Concentrated fire can be problematic, especially on small targets.
- Its multiple bullets are likely to set off Coward Chickens.
- Damage falls off on bosses, unless you get really close.
It's a member of the Fire group, so it has its weaknesses and strengths.

- Big Chicken (Revenge of the Yolk only)
- Egg
- Mother-Hen Ship's Shell (Ultimate Omelette)
